Former American Idol contestant Benjamin Glaze, who gained attention after a viral moment involving a kiss from Katy Perry during his audition, has been arrested on allegations of possessing child pornography, according to TMZ.
A Facebook post from the Tulsa Police Department reveals that Glaze was apprehended following an investigation by the department’s Sexual Predator/Digital Evidence Recovery Unit, which reportedly received information suggesting he was in possession of child sexual abuse material.
Cops say they executed a warrant and claim to have found over 700 images and videos of sexual abuse material of minors on his smartphone.
Cops arrested Glaze Friday afternoon, and he was booked into the Tulsa County Jail. He was released on a $50K bond Friday night.
Fans of American Idol* might recall Benjamin Glaze from season 16, when he revealed to judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie that he had never kissed a girl at the age of 19.
Although all three judges declined to advance him in the competition, Perry gave him an unexpected kiss, sparking criticism online after Glaze admitted the moment made him uncomfortable. However, he later clarified that he did not feel Perry had sexually assaulted him.
