There’s a first time for everything, including Taylor Swift speaking out.
In June, 28-year-old Swift showed her sincere love for the LGBT community by giving a speech in Chicago.
Additionally, this past week on Instagram, under a black and white photo of herself (pictured left) she voiced her views on the US mid-term elections and encouraged her fans to vote!
In her long post, Swift voiced her opinion on who she’s voting for: “I will be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives,” she wrote. Both Bredesen and Cooper are Democrats.
She also mentions her strong opposition towards discrimination, whether it’s skin color, gender, or loved one.
“I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love.”
Swift, a Tennesseean at heart potentially risked her music career by voicing her political views this past week.
However, her loyal fans have her back as she retaliates at Kanye West yet again, and his support for President Trump, via social media. Whether you agree with her political stand or not, it definitely had an affect on everyone’s life in some way, which is why Taylor advises everyone to take action by voting.
More of what’s in her Instagram post: “Please, please educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values. For a lot of us, we may never find a candidate or party with whom we agree 100% on every issue, but we have to vote anyway.”
Swift and West may have been going head to head for a while, losing and gaining fans based on their personal views, but they shouldn’t disappoint us with their next hit. Who do you agree with? Swift or West?
Oh, I mean, “Swift or Ye?”
