JessLee: Rising Country Music Star

Updated: Jan 10, 2020

JessLee is bursting onto the country music scene with no signs of slowing down, and we have the scoop on her new music and upcoming projects! She has her own musical style blend that she describes as "Punktry" - a mix between Punk/Avril Lavigne and Country/Carrie Underwood. You may know the singer from her time on NBC's The Voice, but what was she doing before the show?

Before The Voice:

Before her stint on The Voice, she had achieved some moderate success and acclaim in the country music scene. JessLee had the opportunity to open up for artists like LoCash and Cassidee Pope on some amazing stages. She has even written with top song writers like Clay Mills and Weston Davis. JessLee also got to walk the red carpet for her single "Burn" nomination at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards (country music genre).

The Voice:

JessLee had just filmed her 2nd music video for her song "My Favorite Song," and was recording for her second album, when all of that was put on hold. She got a call from NBC's The Voice with the opportunity to audition and meet the producers. According to her team, the show's producers found her from her first music video "Burn."

During her audition, JessLee turned chairs from judges Blake Shelton & Kelly Clarkson, eventually choosing to join #TeamBlake! Check out a portion of her audition in the video below:

One of the biggest praises she received on the show was from mentor Trace Adkins about her vocals: "POW! Sit you back in your seat." Other praise she received came from her fans when she charted both her Blind Audition single "I'm With You" and her Battle Round single with fellow contestant Kyla Jade "One Last Time."

After The Voice:

After being eliminated from the reality show, JessLee began working on and releasing new music immediately. Thankfully, having music recorded for her then-stalled 2nd album made it easier to leave the show. She released a 7-song album titled "Strong" on June 15, 2018, which includes the song "What You Don't Know" that she wrote with Clay Mills and Weston Davis. Her album saw some moderate success, charting on Apple Music at #76.

JessLee is releasing her new single "Hurricane" on November 5th! She co-wrote this song with Steve Virginia from "South of Somewhere" and it is expected to make a big impact upon release! Check out the stunning cover art below:

The up&coming country singer released a new cover of "The Fighter" with Punk Goes Country on Spotify on Oct. 1st and will be releasing a performance duet cover of "Tie Me Down" with Chaz Mazzotta on Oct. 8th.

JessLee also just performed on October 5th on the Main Stage at 'Chillin on the Lucie' with notable artists such as RaeLynn, Uncle Kracker, Wynonna Judd, & more!

What does JessLee do outside of music? The country singer founded the nonprofit, S.T.R.O.N.G. which was created to empower youth to be healthy in mind, body, and soul. With this, she donates her time to go to schools and kids clubs to engage with youth through music and speech encouraging to be all they can be! Her song "Strong" from the album of the same name is the theme song for her program.
